1) Publishing exam dates
The exam dates will be available on the SIS by
The published exam dates will represent when it is possible to sit your Pathology exam. This academic year the exam period will last until 12.9.2025 and the exam dates will be provided in a significant surplus, just like every year. However, we would like to emphasize that (just like every year as well), – that applies to their number, dates, and amount of students who can sign up for a particular date. No other modifications of the published exam dates are possible. The sign-up for the first part of the exam period will be opened according to the university schedule from
The last exam date will be offered until 12.9.2025 (in accordance with the Rectorate and Faculty legislature, it is not possible to sit any exams after this date or require to be provided with more exam dates, even if that means that the student did not use all of their 3 attempts!).
Exam dates during the summer holidays and the 2nd half of the exam period will be opened during the last days of the main (June) exam period.
The exam dates will be provided for the following time periods:
- pre-terms: students signing up for pre-term exam dates need to ensure that they have fulfilled all the required conditions (i.e. receiving the credit for both winter and summer semester). These terms will be offered during the last 2 weeks of the semester. We would like to remind the students that if they are interested in a pre-term exam date, they will need to receive their credit 2-3 weeks prior to the end of the summer semester, for which they will need to use their allotted absences. The rule about the maximum of 3 allowed absences for the entire summer semester is valid in general, pre-term exam date does not represent an exception.
- dates during the proper summer exam period: i.e. in June according to the university academic year schedule
- summer holiday exam dates: during July and August, which however does not represent the proper exam period and only a limited number of exam dates will be offered
- the 2nd half of the proper summer exam period: according to the university academic year schedule
Although the exam dates will be planned for 8:00 in the SIS, it is possible that for organizational reasons students might be asked to come for their exam at a different time. These occasions will only be rare, individual and the students would always be notified of this change sufficiently ahead of time (by email or telephone).
2) Rules for signing up and cancelling the exam date
The beginning of exam sign-up will be marked in the SIS and will be different for the different types of exam dates.
The exam dates will be opened as follows:
- preterms + proper summer exam period:
- summer holidays + 2nd half of the proper summer exam period:
Students can only sit their exam if they have officially signed up for the date in the SIS and if they have fulfilled all the conditions required.
The sign-up for an exam in the SIS itself is not conditioned by already having been awarded the credit. However, to be able to sit the exam when the time comes, the student must have the credit for both semesters. The students are also required to have passed all the required other subjects (pre-requisites). If the student does not fulfil these conditions and they have not passed all the pre-requisite subjects by the time of their exam, they will be removed from the exam term in the SIS and informed about this via e-mail. Such removal from an exam date does not mean that the exam date would be counted as an exam attempt.
The sign-up for an exam date will be opened until 2 days prior to the exam.
Cancelation of the exam date will be possible until
prior to the exam.
3) Failure to be present for selected exam term and apology
If a student fails to come to their exam date and does not provide an apology for this , their exam attempt (and counts as one of the students, failed, attempts).
In exceptional cases, when the student can no longer cancel their exam themselves in the SIS and the reason for cancelation arises in the 1-2 days prior to the exam date, the student must send an email with an explanation of proof of the reason for cancellation to:
Alena Gajdošová, alena.gajdosova@lf1.cuni.cz
Belated apology (after the exam date has passed) can only be accepted for The examiner (or the chairman of the examination committee) will judge whether the apology/reasons for missing the exam term are valid.
The student will be informed whether the reason
for their absence was accepted via email. Only after this has been judged will
the SIS be amended (with an official apology) and the student will be excused
from the missed exam date and allowed to sign up for a new exam date. If the
examiner does not find the reason for missing the exam date to be sufficient,
they may request a further clarification or specification of the apology.
4) Re-sitting the exam
The student has the right to sit their exam for a maximum of three attempts, meaning that they are allowed to have 2 retakes. No extraordinary retakes are allowed (SZŘ UK Art. 6, para. 16). However, if the student fails to plan and use all their 3 attempts during the proper examination period, that
